MANHATTAN — Prince is taking over Prince Street.

In the Prince Street subway station an unknown mourner amended a sign on the Brooklyn bound platform to say "Prince RIP."

"I grew up with him, "Purple Rain", "Little Red Corvette". It's so sad to me," said Wendy Stefanish, 45, as she stopped to take in the memorial as she got off the R train. "To me they just don't have singers like that anymore ... He represented a whole generation."

Others are tagging "Prince Street" in their Instagram memorials to the beloved musician who died Thursday.

The iconic singer and songwriter died in his Minnesota home at the age of 57.

Almost immediately after the news of Prince's death broke, mourners flooded social media with memories about the singer and photos of him.

Many began geotagging the 13-block SoHo street that bears his name (although the location tag doesn't show when the post is embedded).
