WILLETS POINT — The FDNY is investigating a fire at a closed mechanic shop slated for demolition as part of the first phase of remediation at the Iron Triangle.

A call for the fire at 38-15A 126th St. came in at 7:47 p.m. on Sunday, officials said.

Firefighters brought it under control by 8:09 p.m., and no one was injured, officials said. Fire marshals are still investigating the blaze.

The shop is part of a section along 126th Street, between 38th and Roosevelt avenues, that have been boarded up by construction fencing since earlier this month.

They will be demolished as part of the city's plan to remediate the area, although there isn't a more specific timeline, officials said.
