ELMHURST — A New Jersey man was charged with public lewdness after he masturbated while staring at a woman on the R train, according to police.
Police said Haljilj Hodzic, 20, of North Bergen, put his hands inside his pants as the train entered the Elmhurst Avenue station just after 3 p.m. on March 19.
He stared at the 33-year-old woman while masturbating until she left the train at the Lexington Avenue station. She managed to snap a photo of the man, police said.
Hodzic was arrested April 4 and arraigned the next day in Queens Criminal Court.
He was also charged with second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct and was released until his next court date on May 24, records show.
Information on his lawyer was not immediately available.
