MANHATTAN — A Third Avenue track fire on the L line temporarily halted service and sparked a commuter nightmare during Monday morning's rush hour, according to train announcements and commuters.
Manhattan-bound trains were terminating at Bedford Avenue as of 8:33 a.m. because of FDNY activity in the Third Avenue station, according to the MTA.
They resumed normal service with some delays about 8:55 a.m., the MTA said.
An FDNY spokesman did not have further information about the incident.
Riders vented their frustration on social media.
