WINDSOR TERRACE — Fried chicken and biscuits, barbecue ribs, collard greens and other Southern classics are coming soon to Windsor Terrace.

Soul food restaurant Butterfunk Kitchen will open April 2 at 1295 Prospect Ave., near Greenwood Avenue.

Chef Chris Scott and his wife Eugenie Woo, who own Brooklyn Commune cafe right next door, are behind the new eatery, which they're calling a "juke joint" because they plan to host live music on weekend nights.

Butterfunk Kitchen's menu reads like the definition of comfort food. Appetizers include crispy deviled eggs with "cracklin' greens," entrees include whiskey and Coke meatloaf with white bread and gravy, barbecue baby back ribs with spicy corn salsa, and fried catfish with tartar sauce and jalapeño jam.

There will also be sides such as candied yams, macaroni and cheese and housemade cornbread.

"It's the kind of food that pulls at your heart strings," Woo told DNAinfo New York in November. "I think it will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It will be a lively but welcoming and fun environment."

The restaurant is the latest addition to the neighborhood's rapidly expanding culinary scene. Several food and drink businesses have opened along Prospect Avenue in the past year, including the Italian restaurant Della and the cafe The Fox and The Crepes.
