CROWN HEIGHTS — Police are looking for a man they say robbed a 12-year-old boy as he walked to school near the Kingsborough Houses earlier this month.

The robbery happened on Bergen Street near Ralph Avenue in Crown Heights at 8 a.m. on March 11, police said. The unidentified man approached the boy from behind, took his iPhone 6 from his front pant pocket and ran into the Kingsborough Houses, located across the street.

The 12-year-old fell to the ground and sustained minor injuries during the incident, police said.

The police department released an image of the man taken from surveillance footage in front of the Kingsborough Houses. The NYPD says they want to question the man about the robbery, but do not yet consider him the suspect.

The man is approximately 5-foot-6, weighs 140 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, and was last seen wearing jeans, a black sweater, black sneakers and a black baseball hat with a white design, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, (888) 57-PISTA (74782).
