THE BRONX — A straphanger pummeled another rider aboard a train in a fight over a seat, police said.

The attack happened on a Manhattan-bound 4 train as it rolled into the Mount Eden Avenue station, in The Bronx, just before 6 a.m. March 7, the NYPD said.

The 58-year-old victim was sitting down when he got into an argument with the suspect, who then threw him to the floor and began punching him, according to police.

The victim exited at the Mount Eden Avenue stop while the attacker remained on the train. The injured man refused medical attention at the scene, the NYPD said.

The suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black-hooded sweater and a jean jacket. He was also wearing a black baseball cap and was carrying a black book bag.
