CORONA — A woman was struck and killed Friday morning by a driver who was attempting to parallel park her car, police said.

Lin Qinyun, 64, was struck near the intersection of 113th Street and 37th Avenue at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, officials said.

She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, police said, and later died from her injuries.

Officials said the driver of a 2003 Ford Expedition was reversing her car into a parking space on 113th Street when she struck Qinyun, who was crossing the street.

The driver, whose name was not released, remained at the scene, officials said. There are no arrests or summonses at this time.

A construction worker who declined to give his name said he rushed over to the crash site after she was hit.

The woman was still breathing at the time, and he had "prayed for her to make it," he said.
