CROWN HEIGHTS — Two teenagers were shot near Clara Barton High School Thursday afternoon, according to law enforcement sources.

A 14-year-old girl was hit in her right leg and 18-year-old boy in his right ankle on President Street near Franklin Avenue, one block away from the school, at about 3:49 p.m., an FDNY spokesman and police source said.

The girl and boy were both rushed to Kings County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the FDNY and sources.

Karen Spillers, 58, was standing outside her building near the school when she saw a group of girls who appeared to be getting ready to fight.

She asked them to leave, and the girls crossed Franklin Avenue back toward the school.

A man then came running up to Spillers and her friend and told them to take cover because the girls were about to start shooting at each other.

Spiller said she started to panic and had trouble getting into her building.

"I couldn't get in, I couldn't get the key out," Spiller said. "I was a little scared. I didn't want to get a ricochet."

Police were escorting students out of Clara Barton in groups after the shooting.

It was not immediately clear if the teens were students at the school.
