A worker who answered the phone at the business Wednesday afternoon confirmed the news, but wouldn't provide any additional information.
As word spread, fans of the low-cost Chinese eatery recorded their dismay.
"This is and always will be my favorite place to eat in Chinatown," wrote Mark Kwan on Instagram and Facebook. "Ugh."
