85-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck While Crossing Street in East Flatbush: NYPD

BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn man was killed after being hit by a car just blocks away from his East Flatbush home on Saturday, according to police.

Joseph Hippole, 85, was attempting to cross mid-block at Linden Boulevard and East 95th Street when he was hit by a 2006 Nissan on the service road around 10 a.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Hippole lived a short walk away on East 95th Street near Avenue B, according to police.

He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he died of his injuries, officials said.

The 25-year-old driver remained on scene and no arrests were made in the incident, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
