CHELSEA — A man was arrested for driving the wrong way on 11th Avenue with a sandwich bag filled with marijuana on his car's floor, police said.
The 25-year-old was driving a gray Volvo around 4:45 a.m. on Jan. 31 when he started driving the wrong way into traffic on 11th Avenue, according to the NYPD.
Police tried to stop the driver, but he kept going down the avenue before finally coming to a stop near West 35th Street, police said.
A police officer who approached the car spotted a large sandwich bag filled with marijuana “in plain view” on the Volvo floor, the NYPD said.
The officer found a smaller envelope of pot stashed in the car door handle and a glass pipe with marijuana residue on it in the driver’s pant leg after conducting a search, police said.
The man, who had an active warrant issued against him, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, according to police.
Police did not say what the open warrant was for.
