EAST HARLEM — A man attempted to avoid a traffic ticket by trying to steal the traffic officers’ personal computer that she was using to write a summons, police said.
The bizarre incident happened January 27 in front of 164 East 116th Street about 11 a.m., according to the NYPD.
The driver of a 2014 Black Honda 4-door sedan was double parked on the street and got into a shouting match with the traffic officer when she attempted to give him a ticket, police said.
He grabbed the officer’s $2,500 Motorola device and got inside his car, the NYPD said.
The traffic officer’s supervisor was able to recover the device and write down the car’s license plate number before the man drove off along 116th Street, police said.
No arrests had been made as of Monday.
