PARK SLOPE — A car was stolen in broad daylight from a busy stretch of Fifth Avenue on a recent Sunday, according to a police report.
The gray four-door 2002 Chevy Impala was stolen from Fifth Avenue between Fourth and Fifth streets, across from M.S. 51, on Jan. 17. The theft happened sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., according to the report.
The 20-year-old owner told police he left the car locked and parked and that it didn't have any outstanding tickets. No broken glass was found at the scene, according to the report.
Overall, major crime in the 78th Precinct has increased 5.3 percent this year compared to the same period in 2015, according to the most recent NYPD statistics.
