MIDTOWN EAST — Ostrich and bison burgers are coming to Turtle Bay.

The Queens-based chain Bareburger is looking to open a franchise of the popular restaurant at 253 E. 52nd St. on the corner of Second Avenue, records show.

Bareburger has filed applications with the Department of Buildings to operate the new location and will seek a liquor license for the spot at Community Board 6's upcoming business affairs committee meeting on Jan. 28.

The chain got its start in 2009 with a single restaurant in Astoria, and has expanded rapidly in recent years to include 17 franchises and company joints across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

The restaurant, known for its eco-consciousness and organic ingredients, sells grass-fed beef alongside its more exotic offerings of ostrich, bison, and boar.

Bareburger locations dot many parts of Manhattan, but fans in Midtown East currently have a long way to go to chow down, with the closest Bareburger to East 52nd Street located at Third Avenue between 34th and 35th streets.

Michael Pitsinos, a Bareburger executive listed on Department of Buildings filings for the address, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

It is not yet clear when the franchise might open, but the building — which until June 2014 housed the bar Opal — currently sits unoccupied with paper over the windows.
