Man in Wheelchair Robs Sunnyside Bank by Claiming He Has Bomb, Police Say

SUNNYSIDE — A man in a wheelchair robbed a bank on Queens Boulevard Monday after telling staff he was armed with a gun and a bomb, according to police.

The man entered the TD Bank at 41-01 Queens Blvd. at roughly 2 p.m. and handed a note to the teller demanding cash, police said.

He also threatened to shoot a gun and claimed to have a bomb, though no actual weapon was produced during the incident, according to the NYPD.

The suspect made off with $500, fleeing the bank in his wheelchair and heading west on Queens Boulevard, police said.

He was described as wearing a gray jacket or sweatshirt and black shoes, police said.
