BROOKLYN — A 44-year-old man was found shot to death on a Bed-Stuy street Thursday night, police said.

Three NYPD officers on patrol heard gunshots at about 9:10 p.m. and found the man unconscious, lying face up in front of 403 Madison St., police said.

The unidentified man had several gunshot wounds and was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Paris Bennett, 35, who lives across the street from the shooting, said he was playing music with his friend and heard at least four gun shots outside once he turned it down.

"As soon as the shots rang out my phone went crazy," Bennett said. "They thought it was me."

Bennett said he recognized the victim from around the neighborhood and he was walking with a woman, who ran away when he was shot.

"It just sucks this happened on my street," Bennett said. "It's never happened on this street. It's kind of like a shock."

No arrests have been made in the shooting and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
