FLATIRON — Motivo will close after New Year's Eve, two months after a 24-year-old woman was shot down outside of the club, according to the commanding officer of the 13th Precinct.

Walikque Faussett, 24, died on Oct. 12 after her friend, a DJ with reputed gang ties, allegedly shot her accidentally outside Motivo, a popular nightclub at Broadway and East 21st Street, officials said.

Dalone Jamison, 26, struck Faussett and two other women while taking aim at bouncers who had kicked him out of the club shortly after 4 a.m., police said. Jamison had allegedly retrieved a gun from his car and squeezed off six shots at the bouncers, according to Timoney. Police arrested him on Oct. 13 in Carroll Gardens, officials said.

Motivo has been operating since the shooting, but the club appears to have already been scrubbed from the website of its parent company Metronome Hospitality Group.

It was not immediately clear if the decision to close was connected to the shooting, but Timoney said Motivo had cooperated during police investigation.

“I can tell you, Motivo really helped with our investigation,” Timoney said at a Nov. 24 community meeting on public safety in the area. "They did everything that we asked them. They had a [metal detecting] wand at the door, they were able to provide us who this individual was right away, and we were able to apprehend this guy within 24 hours of the incident.”

A representative of Motivo did not return repeated requests for comment.
