“He hit me up the night before and said ‘I want Paris on my head because I want to represent the tragedy in the country,’” said Smith, whose clippers often touch the heads of music moguls and NBA players.

Smith said he designed the cut in about 15 to 20 minutes inspired, in part, by the Knicks’ logo.

“I just replaced ‘Knicks’ with ‘Paris’ and the ‘a’ was the Eiffel Tower,” said Smith, who trimmed Seraphin’s hair Sunday morning before he was due on the court.

The cut was a hit. Images of Seraphin’s cut spread quickly through social media, with more than 3,300 people retweeting and “favoriting” an image of the hairstyle on the Knicks’ Twitter account. Nearly 7,000 users “liked” the image on the player’s Instagram profile as of Monday evening.

“He got a lot of coverage. I’m excited about that,” Smith said, adding that he also sympathized with the victims of the Paris attacks.

“I definitely understand the impact it had,” he said.
