Thief Steals Wallet From Kew Gardens Gym, Shops With Credit Card, NYPD Says

QUEENS — Police are looking for a man suspected of stealing a wallet from the men’s locker at a Kew Gardens gym and then using the victim’s credit card to go on a shopping spree at nearby stores, police said Tuesday.

The incident took place on Sunday, July 26, around 4:30 p.m. at a 24 Hour Fitness club at 80-02 Kew Gardens Rd.

Authorities said that the suspect stole a wallet that belonged to a 38-year-old gym member, along with a pair of jeans and a belt.

About a half-hour later, the suspect went shopping at a nearby KeyFood and CVS, where he used the victim’s credit card to purchase $400 worth of food and other items, police said.

Police released a surveillance photo of the man shopping at the Key Food located at 108-27 Queens Blvd. He was last seen wearing a black cap, glasses, a white T-shirt, dark jeans and a black watch on his left wrist, police said.
