Woman Dies After Being Hit by MTA Bus Driver in Forest Hills

QUEENS — A 69-year-old woman hit by an MTA bus driver while crossing the street in Forest Hills Sunday morning has died from her injuries, police said Wednesday.

Leyla Enukasvili, of Forest Hills, was in the crosswalk at the intersection of 71st Avenue and Kessel Street around 7:40 a.m. when she was hit by a northbound Q23 bus making a left turn from 71st Avenue onto Kessel Street.

Enukasvili, who suffered severe head trauma, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition, police said. She died that same day, police said Wednesday.

The 52-year-old driver remained at the scene, police said. 

The driver had not been charged as of Wednesday morning and the investigation was ongoing, authorities said.
