QUEENS — A 69-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she was hit by an MTA bus Sunday morning while crossing the street in Forest Hills, police said.

The woman was in the crosswalk at the intersection of 71st Avenue and Kessel Street at roughly 7:40 a.m. when she was hit by a northbound Q23 bus making a left turn from 71st Avenue onto Kessel Street.

Emergency responders found the woman unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma. She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.

The 52-year-old driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made as of Monday morning, authorities said.

It was not immediately clear who had the light at the time of the accident and the investigation is ongoing, police said Monday morning.

A spokeswoman for the MTA said in an email that "the operator has been removed from service while we investigate the incident."
