LOWER EAST SIDE — Two robbers dressed in dark blue utility uniforms, painter’s masks and sunglasses assaulted a 76-year-old man before making off with nearly $2,000 in property, police said.

The man was entering his apartment, located within the Baruch Houses at 110 Baruch Drive, at 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 when the robbers came up behind him and pushed him into his home, according to the NYPD.

Police said one of the suspects slapped the victim and put a hand over his mouth before displaying a butcher knife. The suspects stole the man’s cellphone and the $500 in cash he had on him, as well as a $600 watch and $800 gold ring with diamonds from his apartment, police said.

The man was not injured and refused medical attention when police later arrived at the scene, according to the NYPD.
