Get a Free Ride Today in a DeLorean Using Lyft's 'McFly Mode'

October 21, 2015 1:19pm | Updated October 21, 2015 1:19pm

There's no flux-capacitor, or flying — but it's still a free ride in a DeLorean.

Car-hailing app Lyft is offering up free trips around the city Wednesday in the quirky car, to commemorate what's become known as "Back to the Future Day."

As fans of the beloved "Back to the Future" film trilogy already know, Oct. 21, 2015 is the date when Doc Brown and Marty McFly land 30 years in the future in their time-traveling DeLorean, in "Back to the Future Part II."

The gratis rides will last up to 15 minutes and can be hailed by using the "McFly Mode" toggle on the app. The promotion, also sponsored by Verizon, will last up to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Just keep in mind that any attempt to get to 88 mph is — you know — not safe.
