STAPLETON — A man was stabbed several times on a Staten Island bus after an argument with a woman on board, police said.
The 24-year-old victim was riding the S74 bus on Tuesday when he got into a fight with the female passenger at about 1:44 p.m., police said.
The woman started to slap the man during the fight and the victim raised his hands to protect himself, police said. After he did, another male passenger stabbed him at least four times in the right hand, abdomen, left hip and right armpit, police said.
Police could not say what started the argument but the New York Daily News reported it was over a seat on the bus.
After the stabbing, the driver ordered all the passengers to get off the bus at Canal and Water streets and the suspect fled towards Tompkins Street, police said.
The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where he's listed in critical condition, police said.
The suspect is described as between 18 to 23 years old with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a white do-rag, a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and a necklace with a diamond or crystal cross on it, police said.
