LONGWOOD — A 60-year-old woman broke her wrist fending off two men who tried to steal her purse in The Bronx Saturday morning, police said.

The elderly victim was walking by Westchester and Prospect avenues at about 2:45 a.m. when the suspects crept up to her from behind, put her in a chokehold and tried to mug her, according to the NYPD.

When the woman broke free from her attackers and ran away, one of the men chased after her and kicked her in the leg, causing her to fall down and break her wrist, police said.

The suspects then ran away empty-handed, and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Surveillance video of the suspects shows them walking and running down a sidewalk.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
