JACKSON HEIGHTS — The majority of residents who took on the challenge of drawing their neighborhood borders agreed on where it begins and ends, settling a debate over its most "northern" border.
The general consensus for Jackson Heights boundaries are the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to the west, Roosevelt Avenue to the south and Junction Boulevard to the east. But its northern boundary is often a source of contention.
Google Maps has it going as far as LaGuardia Airport, leaving out East Elmhurst.
On the DNAinfo map, more longtime residents — identifying as having lived 20 or more years in Jackson Heights — pushed its northern boundary to Astoria Boulevard or 31st Avenue.
Claudia Gryvatz Copquin's book The Neighborhoods of Queens, which compiled information from city planning and historical documents, says Jackson Heights ends at Northern Boulevard.
And more than 600 map-makers agreed.
Other interesting data found that 330 residents thought the neighborhood stopped at 91st Street, skipping its true Junction Boulevard border.

A handful of cartographers got really wild with their drawing tools, extending Jackson Heights beyond Queens Boulevard into Elmhurst, past Corona to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and all the way to Flushing Bay.
