QUEENS — The first of two Starbucks coffee shops planned for Rego Park is opening this weekend, the company said.

In an effort to attract local Russian-speaking residents, the coffee giant placed a bilingual poster in the window of the new store, at 95-15 63rd Drive, informing passersby in both English and Russian that the store is "coming soon" and refers those interested in applying for a job to the company's website.

Rego Park is home to one of the largest Russian-speaking populations in the city.

A spokesman for the company said that its “stores are designed to be community gathering places, and we believe that our partners should be reflective of the diverse communities we serve.”

The chain is also planning to open another location in Rego Park, which would be the first drive-thru Starbucks in Queens. That coffee shop will be located within a development planned for 92-77 Queens Blvd., which will also include a Wyndham Hotel and Retro Fitness gym.

“We take great pride in being an environment where all customers and members of the community can come to relax, visit with each other, get work done, and discuss things that are meaningful to them,” the spokesman added.
