The theme "Rodents on camera" seems to be the stuff of viral legend this week, so here's another goodie for you: above, watch as a cat pursues a mouse scurrying just outside the glass door.

Spoiler alert: the cat never gets what it seeks.

On Monday night, a couple walking by the Health Nut Store in the Upper East Side caught the frustrated feline on a smartphone, and uploaded it to YouTube, they informed Gothamist.

Soon enough, the video had thousands of views. The footage is funny enough in its own right, but if you view the mouse as a symbol of happiness and success, the video takes on a darker meaning to which many New Yorkers can relate.
