QUEENS — A NYPD motorcycle officer escorting Vice President Joe Biden lost control of his bike and crashed as the motorcade was exiting the Triborough Bridge, police said.

The motorcyclist, who fell off his bike around 2:30 p.m., was conscious when the ambulance got to the scene, according to the NYPD. He was transferred to Elmhurst Hospital, officials said.

"He is going to be okay," an NYPD spokesman said.

All of the bridge eastbound lanes were closed due to the incident, according to city's Emergency Management agency, and drivers were advised to consider alternative routes.

Biden, who held a press conference with Gov. Andrew Cuomo Thursday, delivered remarks at the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride Kickoff event at 1p.m. today at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, according to his schedule.
