It's safe to say that the New York Post isn't Bill de Blasio's biggest fan. (Just read this op-ed characterizing the city as a mess that's bound to get worse before his term is over.)
Tuesday night de Blasio hit back, tweeting a mock cover of the tabloid with the headline "Safest Summer in 20 Years But We Still Hate De Blasio."
Twitter responded.
But it wasn't all bad.
At a press conference in the Bronx Wednesday, the mayor declined to answer a question about whose idea it was to post the mock-up Post cover.
"We're not going to address that right now," de Blasio said, emphasizing that he would take only on-topic questions about new legislation protecting tenants from harrassment and an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease at the Melrose Houses.
