SUNNYSIDE — A woman was hospitalized with chemical burns after a stranger tossed an unknown liquid in her face as she was walking in Queens Wednesday night, according to police.

The 56-year-old woman was heading to her car on Skillman Avenue near 32nd Place at roughly 5:30 p.m. when she was approached by a man she didn't know who tried to talk to her, police said.

The man then threw an unknown substance from a cup into the woman's face, causing chemical burns to her face, eyes and hands, according to the NYPD.

She was taken to Cornell Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police were still looking for her attacker Thursday morning and did not immediately have a description of the man.
