QUEENS — An 18-year-old man was stabbed in broad daylight on a busy Jamaica street Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The incident happened around 3:40 p.m. on 165th Street, between Jamaica and 89th avenues, a car-free shopping strip known as the 165th Street Mall.

The victim suffered a small laceration to his lower back and was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, sources said.

The attacker who fled on foot was described as wearing army pants, sources said.

Police sources said the motive behind the incident was not immediately clear and the victim was not cooperating with police. It was unclear what type of weapon was used, sources said.

“It happened so quickly. By the time I got outside, the ambulance was already here, and the cops were all over the place," said a clerk at a nearby store who did not want to be identified.

Police were canvassing the area on Wednesday afternoon searching for the suspect, sources said.
