CENTRAL HARLEM — A woman was fatally shot in the head in Harlem Friday morning, police said.
There were no immediate arrests, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
Rosetta Ewell, 30, was shot near an elevator on a 10th-floor hallway of an apartment building at 15 W. 139th St., near Fifth Avenue, about 9:24 a.m., officials and witnesses said.
"She had on flower-print pants. I saw the sneakers she had on. They were low-cut and pink. She was lying on her back. There was a white sheet over her," said Ardella Harris, 77.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear.
Police later said they were hunting for Bronx-resident Eugene Miller, 32, in connection with Ewell's murder but would not specify the connection between Miller and Ewell.
Anyone with information about Miller's whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or visit the website.
