Man Snatches Woman's Phone and Wallet at Astoria Supermarket, Police Say

ASTORIA — A woman had her wallet and cellphone stolen at a supermarket in Queens last month, according to the NYPD.

The 21-year-old placed her belongings on the counter of the Met Supermarket at 34-14 Steinway at 4 p.m. on June 29, and a man walked up and snatched them when she wasn't paying attention, police said.

Officials described the suspect as a 30-year-old man, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 190 pounds.

Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows the suspect walking through the supermarket wearing a backpack, plaid shorts and a T-shirt with "USA" written across the front.
