UPPER WEST SIDE — Crave Fishbar is opening a new outpost in the neighborhood, the restaurant said Monday.
"The cat is out of the bag — Upper West Side, here we come!" the eatery announced on Twitter.
The new location, on Amsterdam Avenue near West 81st Street, will open in the space that until mid-June was occupied by the barbecue spot Brother Jimmy's, Eater reported. The news of the new seafood spot was initially reported by West Side Rag.
The seafood restaurant, which describes itself as "sustainable" and "eco-conscious," opened its flagship Midtown East location in 2012 and will bring the same concept to the Upper West Side, said co-owner and chef Todd Mitgang.
The menu, with entrees ranging from $21 to $33, is focused heavily on seafood, with a few pasta and meat dishes sprinkled in. There's also a raw bar with sashimi and crudo offerings at its Midtown location.
Mitgang chose the location because of the neighborhood feel of the area and expects to open the restaurant by the end of the year, he told Eater.
