Hit-and-Run Cyclist Critically Injures Woman on UES, Police Say

UPPER EAST SIDE — The NYPD is searching for a man who struck and critically injured a 67-year-old woman while riding his bike on First Avenue last week, police said.

The woman was walking across the bicycle lane to get to her car in front of 1655 First Ave. at 2:33 p.m. June 9, when the suspect smashed into her, knocking her to the ground, police said. The bicyclist did not stop, but turned left and rode west on East 87th Street, officials said.

The woman was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition with injuries to her head and face, according to police.

The cyclist, who was wearing khakis and a blue shirt, was caught on a dashboard camera. No arrest had been made as of Monday, police said.
