BROOKLYN — A cyclist died and three other people were hurt in a multi-car crash near the Barclays Center Monday morning, officials said.
The cyclist was heading south on Flatbush Avenue about 7:15 a.m. when a northbound Honda Pilot SUV crossed into his lane and hit him near Atlantic Avenue, an NYPD spokeswoman said, citing preliminary information.
The Honda dragged the cyclist before hitting a black Mitsubishi car near Atlantic Avenue and Fourth Avenue, said Issam Abdelkader, 52, who works at a nearby breakfast cart.
The mangled Mitsubishi hopped the curb and came to a rest outside a Vitamin Shoppe while the SUV kept going until it came to a rest on the north side of the intersection of Flatbush and Fourth avenues, witnesses said.
A piece of the bicycle's frame was seen sticking out of its tire.
The cyclist was lying in the middle of the intesection of Flatbush and Fourth avenues when EMS arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene, officials said.
Two people were taken to Methodist Hospital where they were listed in serious condition, an FDNY spokesman said.
A fourth person was also taken to Methodist with minor injuries, the FDNY spokesman said.
There were no immediate arrests, police said.
