Man in Wheelchair Steals $1,212 from Astoria Bank, Police Say

QUEENS — A man in a wheelchair stole $1,212 in an Astoria bank heist before making a speedy getaway Monday, police said.

The man, who can be seen in surveillance footage in his chair, hadn't been arrested as of Tuesday morning, NYPD offiiclas said.

He wheeled his way into Santander Bank, at 37-10 Broadway, about 2:10 p.m. and passed a note to the teller demanding cash, police said.

The teller handed over the money and the suspect fled, rolling his way west on Broadway, police said.

He's in his late 20s, about 160 pounds and wore a gray hoodie, police said.
