19-year-old Girl Shot in East Harlem's Washington Houses

EAST HAREM — A 19-year-old girl was shot in the leg while sitting on a bench outside the George Washington Houses Monday night.

The shooting happened at about 11:45 p.m. at 220 East 102nd St., just a block from the 23rd Precinct, police said.

The teenager, whose name was not released, was shot once in the left leg and was transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital where she is in stable condition, police said.

Officers have not arrested the shooter. They do not believe the girl was the intended target.
