FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Two men were arrested for stealing Citi Bikes that had been last docked at the same Spruce Street station, police said.

The thefts come amid a rash of Citi Bike thefts that have been on an upswing so far this year in Lower Manhattan, according to police.

One man, 46-year-old Keith Crawley, was stopped by police for riding on the sidewalk on Ninth Avenue and West 25 Street on June 12 at about 3:20 p.m., according to a criminal complaint from the Manhattan District Attorney's office. Police then found that the bike had been stolen from a Citi Bike station on Spruce Street.

Crawley pleaded guilty to petit larceny and was sentenced to 15 days in jail.

Also on June 12, police arrested 40-year-old Ray Powell for stealing a Citi Bike, which was last docked at the same Spruce Street station. Police said they stopped him for riding on a sidewalk in Brooklyn, then found the bike was stolen.

He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. He's being charged in Brooklyn, according to court records, and is due back in court on August 12.
