MIDTOWN — The grill of a Midtown Chipotle caught fire Monday afternoon, sending diners and workers into the street, witnesses said.

The kitchen fire started inside the 235 W 56th St. restaurant — which is on the ground floor of a 40 story building — around 3:15 p.m, officials said.

"I was in the back [of the restaurant] when I heard people yelling 'Fire, get out, get out!," said Henry German, the restaurant manager. German said he made sure everyone was out of his restaurant and then immediately called 911.

Six fire trucks responded to the scene and the blaze was extinguished roughly 15 minutes after it started, a FDNY spokesman said.

No one was injured, officials said.

German said the cause of the fire was under investigation.

He said he did not know yet when the restaurant would re-open.
