Man Snatched Woman's Purse in Bed-Stuy, Police Say

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Police are seeking a man who robbed a woman of her purse as she walked on a Bed-Stuy street.

The suspect approached the 65-year-old victim from behind on the 200 block of Ellery Street around 9:15 a.m. Friday and grabbed her bag, according to police.

The woman unsuccessfully  tried to wrestle the purse away from the robber and also tried to chase the man, police said. She was unable to keep up.

No injuries were reported, according to officials.

The man was last seen running northbound on Broadway toward Lewis Avenue.

He is described as approximately 5-foot-6, 180 pounds with black hair, wearing dark-colored clothing and black shoes.
