Truck Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Nostrand Avenue Car Accident

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A Daily News delivery truck driver was killed in a car accident near Nostrand and Flushing avenues Sunday morning, according to police.

Jonathan Long, 24, was heading southbound on Nostrand Avenue around 5:49 a.m. when his truck hit a green cab driving eastbound on Flushing, officials said. The force of the collision caused the Daily News truck to overturn.

Long, a Crown Heights resident, was discovered unconscious and unresponsive at the scene. He was taken to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim’s passenger, a 58-year-old man who police said is a relative, was also taken to Woodhull in stable condition.

The taxi driver, 26, was treated at the scene.

Police said they are reviewing video of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
