MANHATTAN — Two men were beaten early Sunday in Times Square by another man who hurled anti-gay slurs at them, police said.

The 27- and 32-year-old men were walking near Broadway and West 48th Street about 2:30 a.m. when the suspect started shouting insults at them and then repeatedly punched them, an NYPD spokesman said.

The suspect, who can be seen in surveillance photos released by police wearing dark clothing with close-cropped hair, fled and hadn't been arrested as of Friday morning, police said.

The two men refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The NYPD's hate crimes task force was investigating the attack, officials said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
