MIDTOWN — Comedian Jon Stewart said Aug. 6 would be his final episode hosting "The Daily Show."

Stewart, who announced that he would be retiring from Comedy Central's satirical news show back in February, told the studio audience about his final date at the end of his broadcast Monday night.

"I will be wearing a suit. I will more than likely be showered," he said at the end of Monday's broadcast.

When the studio audience reacted sadly, Stewart added, "I'm sorry, I'll be wearing overalls and I won't shower."

Comedy Central announced late last month that comedian Trevor Noah would take over for Stewart, who has hosted the show for 16 years.

Fans can enter to win tickets to the final episode by making a donation toward autism schools and research, with details here

"I hope that you will join us for that program," Stewart said.
