QUEENS — A 39-year-old Jamaica man was stabbed to death during a fight outside of a Jamaica Avenue restaurant on Sunday morning — marking the 103rd Precinct's first homicide of the year, officials said.

The victim, Otto Emilio Ajpacaja-Cua, got into an argument in front of El Rinconcito restaurant on the corner of 184th Street and Jamaica Avenue at roughly 4:25 a.m., police said.

The confrontation turned violent when Ajpacaja-Cua kicked one of the men, and the other suspect responded by pulling out a knife and stabbing the victim in the chest and right thigh, police said.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the dispute. The suspects fled on foot, leaving the victim, who was unarmed, collapsed on the ground, police said.

Ajpacaja-Cua was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The victim had 4 prior arrests, including assault and DUI charges going back as early as 1998. One case was sealed, and the results of the cases were not immediately clear.

El Rinconcito did not respond to requests for comment.

Police described the suspect who stabbed the victim as being 5-foot-10. He was last seen wearing a gray sweater and black pants.

This incident was the first homicide in the 103rd precinct which covers Jamaica, Lakewood and Hollis — down from five homicides between Jan. 1 and April 12 last year, according to statistics provided by the NYPD.
