QUEENS — Police are offering a $2,000 reward to help find the suspect who fatally shot a 70-year-old grandmother when she answered the door of her South Jamaica home early Monday morning — a possible retaliation against another family member.

Leta Webb had just opened the door of her home on 119th Avenue, near 153rd Street, about 1:30 a.m. when someone shot her in the head and left arm, police said.

Webb was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital, police said.

The suspect fled and no arrests have been made as of Wednesday, authorities said.

Police also released surveillance video of a white Ford Econoline van which they said the suspect or suspects used immediately after the shooting.

Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce, who described Webb as a "stand-up citizen," said Wednesday that the shooting may have been a “possible retaliation” against another family member.

Relatives and friends also said they believe that Webb, a homemaker who lived in the neighborhood for more than two decades, was not the target.

Webb’s son, Arnold Webb, 27, is serving 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter in 2011.

The victim's son-in-law, Kevin McDowell, who lived with her and her sons, said Tuesday morning that he was "half asleep" when he "heard somebody banging on the door."

"She went to open the door and I heard the gunshots," he said, adding that when he ran towards the door he found his mother-in-law with "the bullet in her head."

Boyce said that the victim's bedroom was right next to the front door, so it's possible that she was just the unlucky person to open door first. Six other adults were in the house at the time when she was shot, Boyce said.

Relatives and friends said that Webb was well liked in the community.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and and conviction of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
