BOERUM HILL — A new laptop-friendly spot serving pastries, coffee and ice cream is heading to Smith Street this summer.

Mia’s Bakery is slated to open in early June at 139 Smith St., the former location of Coco Roco, a Peruvian restaurant that closed last year.

”We’re going to have a very big selection of quality pastries, desserts,” said co-owner Paris Asprou.

The bakery will take over the roughly 1,600-square-foot interior space and a smaller backyard on Smith Street  near Bergen Street, Asprou said. It's the first location for the eatery, which will also feature a coffee bar and wireless Internet access, he said.

Mia’s Bakery has already hired a team of chefs and bakers who will make all of its treats and desserts in house.

“We’re proud of the team that we have,” he said.

While the full menu is still being planned, Asprou anticipated having “traditional” cakes like red velvet, cheesecake and seven-layered cake.

Prices have yet to be determined, but “it would be something that everyone in the neighborhood can enjoy,” he said.
