BUSHWICK — Another flea market is coming to Bushwick.
Bushwick Flea will debut next month on a lot at the corner of Wyckoff and Willoughby avenues featuring more than 35 vendors, with a focus on vintage clothing and jewelry, said founder Rob Abner.
Abner and several other Brooklyn Flea vendors decided to start their own market after deciding the well-known Williamsburg market had gotten "very big and very touristy," Abner said.
The Bushwick Flea will have room for 50 vendors and will run every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Vendors from across the city and state will sell their wares. Sellers include Vintage Dot Biz from Hudson Valley, New York, repurposed woodworkers Rustic Roots from Newburgh, N.Y., and Superette Cold Brew, a company that makes natural, caffeinated beverages in Bushwick.
"I'm just aiming for a variety of cool products," Abner said. "It's not your flea market where you sell socks and sunglasses. It's going to be vintage things and cool things, just to sort of suit the neighborhood and trend."
Abner hopes to use the space for other events beyond the daytime vintage market, too.
The lot may host live music, a beer fest and vendors with fresh produce, he said. When the weather warms up, the hours may extend into the night or even to a weekday.
"A lot of flea markets use a playground or schoolyard," Abner said. "They have a limited amount of time. We're not in that situation. We have the location. We can do whatever we want there."
The market's debut weekend will be April 4 and 5.
